Gas stations in Death Valley. All three of them.

There are three gas stations in Death Valley: Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells and Panamint Springs. Here is what each one pumps, how far apart they are, the last gas on every road in, what to budget and where to charge an EV.

The middle of everything

Furnace Creek
gas station.

The Furnace Creek station belongs to The Oasis at Death Valley and sits with The Ranch at Death Valley, alongside its restaurants and shops. It sells regular, high test and diesel.

The Ranch’s General Store carries groceries, produce, beer, wine, snacks and cold drinks, if the truck is not the only thing that is hungry.

Flying in? There is no fuel at the Furnace Creek airport, or at the rough strip at Stovepipe Wells.

Death Valley
gas prices.

“Remote gas is priced
like remote gas.”

We do not post live pump prices. For budgeting, allow for the possibility of $10 a gallon in Death Valley; that is a planning allowance, not a live pump price.

Of the three, Stovepipe Wells says it is the cheapest. Fill the tank in Pahrump or Beatty and you buy less of it here.

For the quiet cars

Death Valley
charging stations.

The Park Service says there are no fast chargers inside Death Valley. The closest are in Beatty, 43 miles from Furnace Creek, and it says not to count on them during busy holidays in fall, winter and spring.

Furnace Creek

The Oasis has four Level 2 chargers at The Ranch and two at The Inn. A full charge takes about 12 hours, there are no Tesla-specific chargers, and the chargers can quit in heat over 115°F. In December 2023 the Park Service noted that the two at The Inn were not working and two of the four at The Ranch were, with adapters at the front desk.

Stovepipe Wells

Four Blink chargers with J1772 plugs stand next to the General Store. Stovepipe Wells said it would add DC fast charging starting in fall 2024.
